New Rolex Lady-Datejust 28: worth it or not ?

by Aurélie C. - 12/04/2015

For the 2015 Baselworld edition, Rolex unveiled several new models. If the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 and the Datejust Pearlmaster 39 were the talk of the town, it is a lady's watch that really caught my eyes. Let me introduce you to the Lady Datejust 28 and tell you why it is now on my wishlist.

During the last Baselworld event, Rolex showcased several new models. But, it’s the Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust 28 that really got my attention. It epitomises classical lines, luxury and elegance and it would be a shame to miss it...

In what way is this version different? The redesigned case has been enlarged to 28mm and has brand new faces. Moreover, the mechanical movement is fitted with a Rolex-patented syloxi hairspring in silicon.

What are its main assets ? There is not a shadow of a doubt that the Lady-Datejust 28 stands out thanks to its superlative chronometric performance – unparalleled on a ladies’ watch. This model has not only been certified as a Swiss chronometer by COSC, it has also been tested a second time in-house by Rolex using twice as exacting standards.

And what about the style ? If it is mainly a matter of taste, it is safe to say that this new Lady-Datejust 28 has some serious arguments. The model in 18ct pink gold and a chocolate dial is set with 44 brilliant-cut diamonds and will satisfy both watch and jewelery enthusiasts. With a classical and refined look at the same time, it can easily be worn with an exotic-printed evening gown by Erdem. For a daytime look, it will mix well with a work dress from J. Crew for a very First Lady allure. A nice nod to the President strap that comes with the watch…

My verdict: Kudos to this watch and a safe investment. May it be for its technical features, its design or its various colour schemes, it is, to my eyes, a real fail-safe.
