Officine Panerai presents its newly manufactured caliber : the P.4000
by Guillaume V. - 01/10/2014
The Officine Panerai manufacture presented, at the end of September, its new P.4000 caliber. This is the first automatic movement featuring an off-centre micro rotor entirely designed and manufactured internally by the brand.
The diameter of the micro rotor is inferior to that of the caliber. Therefore, it is inserted inside the movement instead of being superimposed. Consequently, at only 3.95 mm thick, this piece remains precise, reliable and robust - as one expects from Panerai.
There will be two versions of the P.4000 caliber with different finishes, engravings and micro rotor materials. The first version is aimed at steel case models. It will feature horizontally satin finished bridges - engraved in blue - and a decorated oscillating weight made of tungsten alloy. The second version, only for gold case models, will feature circular satin finished bridges - gold engraved - and a Clous de Paris patterned and decorated oscillating weight made of 22K red gold (pictured).
