Baselworld 2015 : time to crunch the numbers

by Aurélie C - 04/04/2015

By now, you must probably be familiar with all the new products showcased at Baselworld. So, it is time to get all the must-know figures of this 2015 edition.

Baselworld just ended and Lords of Watch is crunching the numbers to present you with the key figures of this 2015 edition. The first striking element is that the show confirmed its position as an unmissable global event with a record number of press attendees for the whole 8 days. More than 4,300 representatives of the press (i.e. a 7.5% increase in terms of attendance compared to 2014), came from 70 different countries to discover and share the latest innovations and creations of the fine watchmaking industry.

1,500 brands were exhibiting and showcased their models to an audience of more than 150,000 visitors. A good omen for the exclusive event that proves time and time again that the watchmaking industry is buoyant and increasingly attractive around the globe.

Nevertheless, if Baselworld is often linked with exquisite timepieces, it is also a major marketplace for diamonds, gemstones and, pearl merchants. An important fact to keep in mind…

The only snag of this 2015 edition is the slight decrease in buyers’ attendance - around 3% - compared to the previous year.

Please note the dates of the 2016 edition in your diary, from 17th to the 26th of March, for more excitment, surprises and industry trends.
