BR 03-92 Military Type (Pre-Baselworld 2015)
by Guillaume V - 07/02/2015
Since its creation more than 20 years ago, the brand Bell & Ross has always kept strong links with the military world. The introduction of the BR-X1 at Les Invalides a few months ago is a great example of that relationship.
Bell & Ross has unveiled, ahead of the Baselworld 2015 exhibition taking place in Basel, Switzerland, an authentic military watch which the design and specifications are once again paying tribute to the military. We have to remember that the military were the first professionals to use wristwatches as fundamental instruments for their missions.
As for the BR 03-92 COMMANDO, PHANTOM or BLACK MATTE introduced in Basel last year, the case is entirely made of black ceramic. This material, replacing slowly but surely the black PVD steel in the Bell & Ross collections, has the advantage of being lightweight, almost unscratchable with a colour that won't fade or change, bringing comfort and longevity to the watch.
Coupled with the khaki dial, its indexes and numerals covered in a photoluminescent coating ensure great readability even in the worst conditions. The screen-printed red symbol on the dial is a nod to authentic military watches... but also to the BR123 Military Type, introduced in the Bell & Ross catalogue almost 10 years ago.
The BR 03-92 Military Type movement is automatic, coded as Calibre BR-CAL.302, and the base caliber is a Sellita SW300 movement. If not a masterpiece of horology, Bell & Ross engineers have designed a sturdy and practical watch that is perfectly adapted to everyday use.
